Altar Servers
As part of the Christian formation of its students, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish School encourages 5th - 8th grade students to serve the Lord through the ministry of Altar Serving. Altar Severs participate in weekly school masses, regular weekend masses, wedding masses and funeral masses thus providing service to the entire Our Lady of Lourdes Parish community. There are approximately 90 students who faithfully contribute to this ministry.
The Children of the Blessed Sacrament
The children of the Blessed Sacrament is a ministry that is going into its fourth year. This ministry is dedicated to leading the children into the mystery of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, so as to realize how much he loves them! It was Jesus who said, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them; for to such belong the kingdom of Heaven.” Matt. 19:14
We are very proud that we were the first school in Miami with Eucharistic Adoration for children. Our children were interviewed by the Florida Catholic Newspaper for the induction of the Adorer’s during our first year and they were also interviewed by Radio Peace and God Squad Radio during our second year. This year will are going to reach out to the community by doing fundraising and serving the needy in our community.
As of right now we have over three hundred Adorer’s from Pre-k 4 through 8th grade. The children choose to be a morning Adorer (7:15-7:30 am) or an afternoon Adorer (3:00-3:15pm). If you think you child would like to be an Adorer please let Ms. Cedeño or myself (Mrs. Melba Remior) know and we will gladly send an application home with your child. Your child’s name will be posted on the calendar on our school website so you can check what day he/she is assigned. We also have a calendar posted in the reception area at school and at the chapel of Adoration.
St. Francis Missionaries
This ministry began in the 2008-2009 school year. This group focuses on serving those less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ.
