Meaning of advent

The season of Advent is a time of preparation and expectation as we reflect on God’s promise. It is marked by the anticipation of the arrival of the only Son of God who first came into the world over two thousand years ago in the town of Bethlehem in Judea. During Advent, we also direct our hearts and mind to Christ’s second coming at the end of time. It calls us to be alert and ready and not weighted down and distracted by the cares of this world. We prepare ourselves by quieting and disciplining our hearts for the full joy of Christmas. Let us join together in saying joyfully, “Come Lord Jesus.”
