Dear OLOL Families,
We hope everyone was able to enjoy a wonderful long weekend with family and friends! Our faculty and staff truly appreciated the Professional Development Day as an opportunity to catch up, organize, and prepare for the end of our first quarter. It is hard to believe that we have already completed nine weeks of school! Time is certainly flying as we continue to learn, grow, and make wonderful memories together.
We are incredibly proud of our middle school students who recently participated in the St. Brendan Academic Olympics. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence were evident throughout the competition. We are equally grateful to our teachers and coaches who devote so much time and energy to preparing our students, encouraging them to do their best, and helping them recognize their full potential. Next week, our Jaguars will once again put their knowledge and skills to the test as they compete in the Christopher Columbus Academic Olympics. We wish them the very best and know they will represent Jaguar Nation with pride!
Next week also marks a very special time in our school community as we begin Jaguars Against Cancer Awareness Week. While we will come together to show our support through our pink or yellow polos, jeans day, and acts of kindness, the heart of this initiative goes far beyond wearing pink or yellow. It is about standing together in hope, compassion, and love for children and families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges.
Through our efforts to support the pediatric patients at the Miami Cancer Institute (MCI), we hope to bring a little sunshine into the lives of children whose days often revolve around appointments, treatments, and hospital visits. For these brave young patients, even the smallest gesture can make a meaningful difference. A thoughtful gift, a special treat, or a little something to look forward to can brighten a difficult day and remind them that they are surrounded by a community that cares.
As these children work through their treatments, every milestone deserves to be celebrated. Whether it is completing a round of treatment, reaching an important step in their journey, or simply finding a reason to smile, these moments are precious. Our hope is that, through the generosity of our Jaguar families, we can help make some of those moments a little more joyful. We may never fully know the challenges these children and their families face, but we can remind them that they are not alone. Our kindness may seem small to us, but to a child going through a difficult day, it can mean the world.
As you enjoy the weekend, we invite every family to participate by purchasing a gift card for MCI Pediatrics. This simple act of generosity is an opportunity to teach our children that kindness is not measured by the size of a gift, but by the love and thoughtfulness behind it. Together, we can show our young people that being a Jaguar means more than belonging to a school; it means being part of a community that lifts others up, shares hope, and leads with heart.
